We believe every child is created by God, in his image. The birth of a child is a wonderful occasion and a source of joy and celebration. As a church, we want to give an opportunity for you to express your own thanks to God and to support you in the on going spiritual nurture of your child. One way that we do this is through a Christening Service which takes place on a Sunday morning. We offer two forms of Christening Service.

A SERVICE OF THANKSGIVING:

This service, also known as a naming & blessing service is for those who wish to publicly give thanks to God for the birth of their child. During this service prayers and declarations are made by the parents and godparents, the ministers anoints, blesses and names the child. The wider congregation joins in prayer for the child and a Bible is given. These services are available for anyone living within the Parish of Hazlemere

A SERVICE OF BAPTISM:

This service is for families of clear Christian conviction and who are part of a local church where they intend to raise their child as a Christian in a Christian family. Parents and godparents make personal declarations of faith on behalf of the child and promise to bring up the child within the Christian faith, and local church. The minister prays for and baptises the child, and the congregation have an opportunity to offer prayers. Given the nature and significance of the promises made, this service is for those who desire to be part of a Christian community and requires a period of preparation.
