The MarRiage Service:
Congratulations on your forthcoming marriage. Whether you're just dreaming of a church wedding, or well into the planning already, we want to help and support you.

Here at Hazlemere Church we are able to conduct a Marriage Service for couples who fulfil certain legal / church criteria as follows:
- Live within the Parish of Holy Trinity or are members of the Parish Electoral Roll, or have a qualifying connection with the church: (one of you were baptised or confirmed at Hazlemere; one of you or your parents lived in the Parish for six months; one of you or your parents worshipped at Hazlemere Church for six consecutive months; one of your parents or grandparents were married at Hazlemere Church).
- We are unable to offer a Marriage Service if either of the couple has been divorced. However,we offer a Marriage Blessing Service for those in this situation.
- To be married in the Church of England you would both need to be UK citizens. If this is not the case, a Common Licence is required.
Of course, a church wedding is not appropriate if you do not have some basis of a belief in God, as the words you say and the vows you take are made before God and the Church. We are aware that many people do believe in God, but may not be committed christians. If this is the case we are very happy to work with you as we believe marriage to be a gift from God for all people.
THE SERVICE:
A Marriage Service is a fantastic celebration of the love between two people. By having your service in Church, you will make life long vows and promises and a commitment to one another in the presence of family, friends and God. Within the service promises will be made, rings exchanged, hymns sung, readings and prayers offered and the registers signed. The whole service usually takes 45 minutes.

PLANNING YOUR WEDDING at HOLY TRINITY CHURCH
The first step is to phone or email and make contact with one of the clergy or our Marriage Coordinator (Mrs Christine Marks). She is generally in the Church Office on Friday mornings.
If you have read the information above and believe that you satisfy the various criteria for us to be able to book and conduct your wedding service, then we will arrange to meet with you and complete the necessary formal arrangements.
We ask all couples getting married in this church to attend our Marriage Workshop. This is an informal gathering with other couples getting married at Hazlemere Church, and takes place on a Sunday afternoon (lunch through to tea) around the end of January, where we look together at the Marriage Service, values and communication in marriage.
One of our clergy will be assigned to take your wedding and will be happy to meet with you to talk further about the process.
